"There are so many positive things we have to celebrate in Mahwah," said Laforet. "This community has become one of the best places to live in the entire state, not just Bergen County," he said.
John Roth, the Township Council president and councilman Jonathan Wong opposed Laforet but lost in a tight race. Laforet ran on the promising of keeping taxes low and bringing more businesses to town.
"Economic growth, jobs and a balanced mix of business and residential, give Mahwah the building blocks which will increase our property values and place Mahwah among one of the most desirable places to live in Bergen County," said Laforet. "In Mahwah, we have it all."
Laforet is set to continue his work in Mahwah, hoping to achieve even more great things during his second term in office.
"Residents expect and deserve a safe community and great schools," said Laforet. "We are proud to say we have accomplished both. Our community has a bright future and we are looking forward to a great 2016."
